Land Rover Coolant & Oil Leaks Guide (3.0 V6, 5.0 V8, 2.0 Ingenium)

Land Rover engines use many plastic coolant pipes and housings that become brittle with heat. On the supercharged 3.0 V6 and 5.0 V8, coolant pipes, the water pump and thermostat housing commonly leak, and valve cover gaskets and oil coolers seep oil. Pressure testing finds the real source so only the leaking part is replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my Range Rover losing coolant with no puddle?

On the V6 and V8, coolant pipes in the valley under the supercharger can leak where you cannot see it, and the coolant evaporates off the hot engine. A pressure test finds it.

Is it safe to keep topping up coolant?

Only briefly. A slow leak can turn into a sudden failure and overheat the engine, which is far more expensive than the leak repair.

Should I replace all the plastic pipes at once?

If the engine is already apart to reach a valley pipe, replacing the other aged pipes in the same area can save labor later. We show you what we see and let you decide.
