What does the Prius red triangle warning light mean?
The red triangle on a Prius dashboard is the master warning light, often accompanied by a "Check Hybrid System" message. Common causes: hybrid battery cooling fan failure or blockage (most frequent), 12V auxiliary battery failure, inverter coolant low, or actual HV battery cell degradation. Before assuming the HV battery needs replacement, let us diagnose the cooling fan, which resolves the warning in the majority of cases we see.
Do modern Toyota vehicles use timing belts or timing chains?
All current Toyota models use timing chains, not belts — including Prius, Camry (2.5L A25A engine), Corolla, RAV4, Highlander, Tacoma (2.7L and 3.5L V6), Tundra, 4Runner, and Sienna. Timing chains do not have a replacement interval, but we inspect chain stretch and tensioner condition during major services, particularly on higher-mileage engines.
