Airmatic Air Suspension Repair
The Airmatic system on ML/GLE, E-Class (W211), S-Class, and CLS uses an air compressor, air struts, valve blocks, and ride height sensors. The compressor commonly fails after 80,000–100,000 miles — dropping one or more corners of the car. We quote the repair after an inspection.

Why Peninsula Mercedes Owners Choose Express Auto
Independent Labor Rates
We charge independent labor rates, post our typical prices above and use MB 229.5/229.51 synthetic oil.
ASSYST Plus Reset
We reset the Mercedes ASSYST Plus maintenance indicator with Snap-on and Matco bi-directional scan tools — including individual counter resets for oil, brake fluid, cabin filter, and spark plugs. Without this reset, the system does not accurately predict your next service date.
Airmatic Air Suspension Specialists
We stock OEM-equivalent compressors for ML/GLE, W211 E-Class, and S-Class, and perform height sensor recalibration after every compressor replacement.
AMG Service with Correct Oil Spec
AMG engines require MB 229.51 specification — not the same oil as standard Mercedes models. We stock MB 229.51 and Castrol EDGE Professional LL III for every AMG variant. We won't put the wrong fluid in your C63 or E63.
Same-Week Appointments
We usually have availability within the same week, often next day for Airmatic emergencies and urgent repairs.
Peninsula-Central Location
At 1041 San Mateo Ave, San Bruno — right off Hwy 101 and 380. Drop your Mercedes and take our free shuttle to San Bruno BART. Free shuttle within 5 miles of the shop, including Colma, San Bruno, Millbrae and South San Francisco.
Mercedes Dealer Alternative — FAQ
Does going to an independent shop void my Mercedes warranty?
No. Mercedes-Benz cannot void your factory warranty because you used an independent shop, as long as MB-approved parts and procedures are used. We use MB 229.5 or 229.51 certified synthetic oil and genuine or OEM-equivalent filters. Mercedes CPO warranty repairs must go to a dealer. Other maintenance and out-of-warranty work can be done at Express Auto.
Can Express Auto reset the Mercedes ASSYST Plus service indicator?
Yes. We use Snap-on and Matco bi-directional scan tools to perform the ASSYST Plus maintenance indicator reset, including individual counter resets for oil life, brake fluid, cabin filter, and spark plugs. Without a proper reset, your maintenance counter will not accurately predict when the next service is due. Every A or B service at Express Auto includes the complete ASSYST Plus reset.
What is the difference between Mercedes Service A and Service B?
Service A is the lighter annual service (around 10,000 miles or 1 year): oil and filter change, fluid top-off, tire pressure check, brake inspection, and ASSYST reset. Service B occurs every other year: everything in Service A plus brake fluid replacement with MB DOT 4 Plus, cabin air filter replacement, and a more comprehensive inspection of spark plugs and other wear items. Express Auto: Service A $350–$450, Service B $650–$950. AMG models are quoted separately.
Does Express Auto service Mercedes AMG models?
Yes. We service all AMG models — C43, C63, E63, GLE63, S63, AMG GT — using MB 229.51 or Castrol EDGE Professional LL III specification oil. AMG engines require higher-spec oil than standard Mercedes; we stock the correct fluid for every AMG variant. For AMG brake service we use OEM-spec pads to preserve the ABS/ESP integration that AMG-specific brake compound requires.
Can Express Auto repair Mercedes Airmatic air suspension?
Yes. Airmatic suspension (air struts, compressor, valve blocks, ride height sensors) is one of our core Mercedes services. The Airmatic compressor on ML/GLE and E-Class (W211) commonly fails after 80,000–100,000 miles. We stock OEM-equivalent compressors and perform height sensor calibration with our bi-directional scan tools after any suspension component replacement.
How much does Mercedes service cost at Express Auto?
Service A: $350–$450. Service B: $650–$950. AMG models are quoted separately. Other work is quoted after an inspection.
Is the check engine code scan free? What does diagnosis cost?
Free inspection, walk-in or by appointment: a code scan plus a visual inspection. Our free inspection is a code scan plus a visual inspection of the car. Diagnostics is for when we need more time to find the root cause. We diagnose with Snap-on and Matco bi-directional scan tools.
